Cupcakes you say!

Now it's been a while since I've had to make cupcakes! I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing??!! But since doing this last week, the requests for cupcakes have been coming through thick and fast hehehehe. Now here are some bright, fun & not to mention cute (even if I say so) cupcakes that I made last week for little Scarlett who had her first birthday celebration. Happy birthday!

My first competition.

Hi everyone!

Well it's been a little busy here at HC over the last few weeks and it's only going to get bigger with some amazing cakes that I'm yet to create! A few weeks ago I was told about a baking show that was happening here in Townsville by the National Baking Industry Australia. I was a little hesitant about entering, it's like anything, fear of the unknown. In the end I decided to enter a cake and being my first ever comp I wanted to sort of stick within my comfort zone a little, it wasn't like I was already stressing out, so I didn't want to add to it! I love my critters and feel I do them quite well, so I decided on an enchanted wood theme for my cake. The bottom tier is an 8" and the top is a double extended 6". Total height of the cake was 14 or so inches. If I was to do it again I'd make the top two tiers 5", only to get more definition between the tiers. The figurine is based on Dot's fairies, for those that know her work, you'll notice this (hopefully). She's fabulous. I then combined my Teddy Bear & Frogs Picnic cake to come up with this. See easy hehehehehe.

It was a great experience and I learnt a lot and met some wonderful people. And to top the whole experience off, I got first place!!! Yay, so excited. I've set the bar for myself now. I wonder what the next competition will bring......

Happy caking.

We all know how I love new designs, well this one is no exception! I had so much fun making this for little Ava who celebrated her 3rd birthday today. Mum Adele, said that was all that Ava had wanted! So from the teaser photo to the whole cake here it is, Tinkerbell's house! Thank you so much Adele for letting me create this for you, despite our little caketastrophe ;-)

Happy Caking.

Cake #2

Cake # 2 from my course with Debbie Brown. The cloud castle cake. Had a lot of fun making this one. Debbie is a lovely person and seriously a fabulous teacher, she creates a very fun and relaxed atmosphere to learn and work in. Can't wait till she comes back to Oz!!signature 2

Cake for 2!!

I made these cakes recently for Melissa & Lily who had a joint birthday party. Lily turned 1 and Melissa turned 30, both milestone birthdays to be celebrated ;-) I thought it would be a nice idea to do 2 smaller cakes to celebrate each individual rather than 1. Happy birthday to you both, I hope you enjoyed the cakes!!

Pretty in Pink!!

Sometimes I get blown away by the compliments and feedback from customers and fans!! I also can't believe that people from far and wide want my cakes!! Samantha contacted me way back in September asking me if I could make some toppers for her daughter's 3rd birthday. She lives in Tasmania!! Well here they are, I do hope they arrive safely (I say biting my finger nails!!)!!

My fairy turns 5....

Well, my not so baby girl turned 5 today and we celebrated her party in style yesterday. I say this all the time, but really where have the 5 years gone..... She says to Dad "Mum doesn't want me to grow up any more, it makes her sad because I won't be her baby anymore". And the fact is, it does make me feel old!! Anyway, Paige's theme was fairies. She's been slightly obsessed with them for quite some time now, so it was an obvious choice. After much debate over the type of cake she wanted she chose this. I was slightly nervous at her choice, as I've never done anything like this, however, she loved it. I had been telling her all week that I had bought her a cake, much to her disappointment to throw her off the track!! Cruel I know, but you gotta get your kicks where you can!! Happy birthday to my not so baby girl, Paigey Bear. xo.Fairy Courtney and Fairy Dallas flew all the way from Fairyland to spend the afternoon with my Paigey Bear and her friends. Thank you fairies, we miss you already!!

Now these are Happy Cakes!

Ok, so I have to confess, these are so my happy cakes right now! They just make me smile! I made these for a girl who turned 8 and who wanted fairy themed cupcakes. I love it! I tried to give it a real garden theme as well, cause we all know fairies love the garden.
