Engagement Cake

Here's a cake I made for Andy and Amanda. I've never made a heart shape cake before, and I was pleasantly surprised at how little stress this caused me, especially when I had expected it to! Maybe it knew I was not in a good place this week! Congratulations on you engagement Andy & Amanda. I hope you enjoyed your evening and your cake ;-)

Ring Box Cake!!

Here's a slightly different take on my last ringbox cake I made this weekend for the lovely Rebecca. Her and Andrew celebrated their engagement last night with friends and family. Congratulations to you both, I hope you had a lovely evening and enjoyed the cake ;-)

Ring Box Cake!!

A few months ago I met with Vanessa & Darryn. They are a really lovely couple planning their engagement party. They really didn't want a traditional engagement cake, which now I'm wondering is there a traditional engagement cake? I'm digressing, sorry hehehe. Instead they wanted a ring box cake!! They showed me a picture of a 2 tiered cake and the top tier was a hexagon shaped cake made to be a ring box, it was a little 80's!! So with a few minor tweaks, hopefully for the better I created this! Congratulations Darryn & Vanessa I hope you have had a lovely day shared with loved ones.

Something tropical....

Here's something a little brighter than the weather outside my window at the moment!! I made these very tropical cakes for Michelle who celebrated her 40th birthday. Hope you're enjoying your Sunday wherever you are ;-)

For a special customer!

A lovely customer of mine celebrated her 40th birthday on Friday night in style! I was lucky enough to create something for her this time, usually it's for the kids ;-) Julie chose the colour scheme and wanted exploding "something" and shells! Happy birthday Julie. I do hope you had an awesome time!!

The Engagement Cupcake......

So here's the very "special" cake I was talking about!! There's a story though, I received a phone call last week from Ben (I now call him Ben The Ring Man!!) asking me to make 1 cupcake (as he's saying this I'm going dude, I don't make just one cupcake!!) he goes on to say it's his girlfriends birthday on Tuesday and he wants to surprise her with a very special cupcake!! I'm thinking, poor girlfriend, 1 cupcake, she totally got wripped off!! He goes on to say he wants to put a ring in it & wrap it like a present in a gift box. Ahhh penny drops, he's going to propose, Ben The Ring Man has redeemed himself now in my mind!! Of course I was going to make him just 1 very "special" cupcake!! Check it out.P.S And yes she said yes!!

Engagement Cake!

Not sure if you know but there is another half to Happy Cakes, my sister Maria!! She's quite shy and doesn't know how to use a computer, hehehe. I can say that cause she probably won't even read this!! Anyway she's the person behind BIG cakes. We compliment each other, she hates making little cakes and all the "fiddly" decorations, so that's my job. I'm a big caker in training!! Anyway here's one she made recently for an engagement party. While it only looks like a 2 tiered cake it's actually 4 tiers highs. Basically it's 4 cakes stuck together. Stuck is a technical word in the cake industry!! I love this design.

Congratulations Robert & Carly

Made these very girly and dragonfly cupcakes for Robert and Carly's engagement party, in Hughenden. For those of you who may not know Hughenden is a small country town some 400kms west of Townsville. Mum Lynda was organising a twilight engagement party on the veranda of their hotel to celebrate, which I'm sure would have been a lovely night.
